Did you realize that if your little one turns five before September 1, they can officially register for (I know, it's scary Mom and Dad!) kindergarten in Lewisville ISD?
And did you know that LISD now has an open enrollment program for families to make a decision about which campus fits their needs best? As long as you live within Lewisville ISD boundaries, you can attend any of the schools you wish. But, keep in mind, the "turtle" bus stops right in front of our house which means, I don't have to get in my car and take my child to school. Sometimes the closest school is the best situation for you and your family if trying to figure out a ride to school is a difficult one.
Heritage Elementary in Highland Village is an exemplary campus with an active PTA, outstanding teachers and staff and exceptional programs for students. Heritage presents a more liberal arts educational approach unlike any other elementary in Highland Village, offering children a weekly rotation of computer technology, Spanish, art, physical education and music. Your son or daughter will be exposed to a wider variety of subjects than other schools in the district.
If you haven't registered your sweet little one for kindergarten yet, you can do so simply by visiting enroll.lisd.net and set up a family account to get things rolling. If you already have a child enrolled in an LISD school, there is a place for you to log in and add a child.
Even though you register online, you still need to make sure you retrieve the following documents before your child is approved:
Child’s original birth certificate
Child’s Social Security card (if child has one)
Up-to-date immunization records
Proof of residence: current water, gas, or electricity bill, or lease showing utilities paid
Parent photo identification
You will need to bring these items to the campus your child will attend on April 9-10.
It's a very exciting time to send your baby off into the world of education. Whichever school your child attends, embrace and enjoy it!
