Several years ago when moved to Highland Village, TX, growth was at the infant stages in this sleepy little town. We had fields of open pasture on three of four corners at the intersections of FM 407 and 2499. The only thing that existed when we moved here in 2004 was the Super Target shopping center. Where The Shops at Highland Village are used to be this random old building that would sell quilts or fabric.
But expansion, increased population and demand for retail and commercial development has seen an influx of quality businesses into the Flower Mound and Highland Village areas. There were three shops that my husband and I said would be the icing on the cake for us making our city a place we'd never have to leave. Costco (my weakness), Half Price Books, and Academy Sports and Outdoors. I don't think that we will ever get a Costco or Half Price Books here, but we are in luck with the third!
The building is finally taking shape and the retail signage is officially up at the corner of FM 407 and Chinn Chapel Road in Flower Mound. If you ever hoped for an Academy Sports and Outdoors in Flower Mound or Highland Village, you won't have to wait too much longer! There are already job postings for available positions online and it looks like you should be able to do your Christmas shopping at this specific Academy!
There are other restaurants and retail that are on the docket but none of those have been made public yet. What do you think about this new business opening up?
