Trends With Tricia: The Nosey Dog, Flower Mound TX

The Nosey Dog, Flower Mound TX

Did you know that in 2011, American households spent almost $51 BILLION in the pet-related industry which would include food, collars, toys, grooming and specialty items?

One of my clients told me about her part-time job at this local dog boutique called The Nosey Dog.  I haven't had the pleasure of visiting The Nosey Dog in Flower Mound, TX yet but I figured, a day without my kids was a perfect time to visit.

The Nosey Dog

I walked in and didn't expect to see Barb (the lovely lady on the left) but the friendly face was there to greet me!

The Nosey Dog has been in business for just over a year and a half and isn't your average pet spa or dog supply store.  Patricia, the owner on the right, believes it's important to support our economy and environment by carrying many items that are made by "mom and pop" manufacturers in the USA, are eco-friendly and high-quality.

The dog food brands carried at The Nosey Dog are made in small batches and have never had any recalls which is amazing to me.  With high-quality ingredients and interesting choices like pheasant and squirrel, the nutrition value is top notch.

The Nosey Dog is also a grooming facility that believes a stress-free experience is just what your dog needs.  Your dog will never be put in a cage which means the grooming process doesn't take all day and Fido isn't stuck in an uncomfortable situation.  Let's face it, not many dogs love being bathed so I like this idea!  If you'd rather do it yourself, The Nosey Dog has elevated tubs, shampoo, conditioner and spritz, ear and eye cleaner, towels and a dryer.  So not only does your back not have to hurt anymore bending over to wash your dog, but they clean up the mess too!  Brilliant!

Patricia really has a passion for the health and well-being of your pets.  It didn't take me long to get that.  If your dog is a member of the family like mine is, be sure to check out The Nosey Dog.  While you may be paying more, you also get more...helping out a local business, other Made in the USA manufacturers and giving your dog better food and toys for a longer, healthier life!

I feel sure The Nosey Dog does a booming business.  I don't have a dog but I have several friends who do. It seems to me they cost more to take care of than a child.  Oh well. I guess the dog is like their child.

Great idea blogging about local businesses. Like the made in America part. Hard to find here lately.

Tricia, I love the clever name, Nosey Dog! Sounds like they provide a very nice service, with great attention to detail. The "no crate" approach is an extra nice touch.

Good idea for a localism post.

Ah,  my dog and cat are my other kids.  Love the name.  Let's hear it for niche marketing.  I really like the idea of giving a shout out to your client's business on your blog.

Alan, thanks so much for stopping by and reading my blog.  Hope you have a great week too!

Betty, I have both and can say that dogs can be very expensive!!  For those that don't have kids, yes, fur children are just as important :)

Chuck, thank you!  I am enjoying learning about small business owners in my community!

Bill, you are right!  However, I am really starting to see a turnaround in our area where people are caring more about keeping things local and made in the USA!  You really have to look for it and make a good faith effort!

Jeff, I agree with you.  I used to have a dog I had to get groomed and it was a 6-7 hour process and he was sooo ready to be out of there!

Laura, I love it too.  As I sit here and write the comments, my dog is nosing in under my arm to have me pet her!!
